Bree is a sex-positive artist, mother and wife in an open marriage who coaches others on connecting to their erotic nature by using creativity and imagination to lead successful relationships.

What is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the phrase "mama sex"?

Now, when I hear the term "mama sex," I think of my own erotic power and how much erotic power does grow after one becomes a mother. I think about the full erotic life that mothers have the opportunity to enjoy but are often missing out on because of cultural punishment, widespread erotophobia, unsupportive partners and thier own internalized reservations.

What inspired you to work/create/advocate on the topic of "mama sex"?

When I became pregnant I had a lot of fear around losing touch with my sexuality or having to change the way I conduct myself. I realized I didn't know a lot of mothers who also fully embraced their sexualities but also simultaneously felt sexier than ever. I wanted to address this disconnect.

In your work/practice/art, what are the biggest hurdles mothers are facing in terms of their sexuality?

The biggest obstacle I see mother's facing in terms of their sexuality are; other people's discomfort, fear of being labeled a "bad mother," poor postpartum care, unsupportive partners and overt censorship by Facebook/Instagram.

What do you think society at large should know about motherhood and sexuality? And what is society getting wrong right now in regards to it?

Society at large is still so uncomfortable with the simple idea that mothers are sexual beings. Mothers can own their sexualities. Mothers are sexual while they are pregnant. We are kinky. We are wild. Oh and that does not disqualify us from our ability to be a good mom.

What piece of sex advice would you give mothers? Was there something you wish someone had told you?

I would tell mothers to not censor their erotic nature. I would tell mothers that they don't have to tone down the way that they interact with their sexualities just because they have crossed over to motherhood. I would tell mothers that their maternal ness makes them even sexier.
